box002 JAMES "SPARROW" GOLDEN.Born Kensington District Philadelphia circa 1852. In 1884 he fought Len Cramer in Hard Gloves and knocked him out in the ninth round. In 1885 he was recognised as a Championship Contender and fought Dominick P McCaffrey near Hamilton Fort Long Island, but was well beaten by the Hardness and vicious flurries of the Pittsburgh man. box003 JIMMY CARROLL was born in Brooklyn N.Y. in 1865. He stood 5ft 6ins and weighed around 175 lbs. He first fought Billy Smith in 1885 ,then in 1886 at Rockaway Beach he defeated Dick Collier in little under 2 hours of fiercely fought combat. In 1888 in an all Comers Tournament he defeated over 20 men in the middle and heavyweight class. He went on to win many more contests and eventually retired to run a Road House on Coney Island.  Very Good  £28 sold 
box004 JACK "THE BROOKLYN STRONG BOY" FALLON.Was born in the City of Churches of Irish parents in 1864. He stood 5ft 10 ins and weighed 180 lbs. Although beaten by the very best, McCaffrey, Costello, and Fitzsimmons the phenomenal Australian he defeated many a man, and proved to be a hard working Journeyman before retiring to the Long Island Constabulary.  Very Good  £28 sold 
box005 JOHN SULLIVAN fought and lost to McCaffrey nevertheless a useful combattant who fought FRANK " THE NICETOWN SLASHER" HERALD in 1886 in Queens County Long Island. For the second time the Police interrupted and wrestled the Protagonists apart..the match after only three rounds being given to Sullivan by the Two Referees.  Very Good  £28  
box006 JACK WELCH born in my hometown BIRMINGHAM England circa 1854. He beat off all English opposition and in 1884 emigrated to Philadelphia America. And quickly became the star attraction at Professor S Clarks Academy, Eighth and Vine Street Philadelphia..Beating Jack Keefe soundly in Four rounds he met and was narrowly beaten by McCaffrey. Nevertheless this impressive showing earned him a fight with William Sherriff THE PRUSSIAN in Germantown Philadelphia with hard gloves, Marquis of Queensbury rules.The fight lasted 76 rounds over 5 hours in duration and was eventually declared a draw. Following this he retired to run a Saloon in Newark, New Jersey.  Very Good  £28 sold
