CHARLES, DANA GIBSON was born in Roxbury, Massachsetts in 1867. A Graphic Artist by profession who developed into one of the greatest American Illustrators of all times. Especially noted for his 1890 creation of “the Gibson girls” modelled on his wife Irene they represented the beautiful, independent American woman at the turn of the 20th Century quickly gaining fame throughout America and Europe. He worked mainly for Life magazine eventually owning this publication This collection of “photo-litho” prints have folds in the middle and were featured in the English magazine “Pictorial Comedy" Magazine between 1899 and 1900. They are all original magazine plates and will enhance any “Gibson” collection.
